This is a know problem with Python 2.1 and 2.1.1; using version 2.1.3 *should* solve this, though I'm not sure what the situation is on Windows. Can you test with 2.1.3?

that was it ... an upgrade to python 2.1.3 and all errors were gone and the first example works :-) thanks fritz (-:fs)
