RE: [Zope-dev] BoboPOS component

I've noticed on the components page that ZPublisher and ZTemplates are available, but no BoboPOS. I can slice BoboPOS out of the normal Zope source distribution, but was curious if there was a reason not to release it as a component.
The reason? Oversight. I'd like to see the 1.11 release establish a pattern where there are separate downloads for Python (the bulk of the binary release is Python) and a number of separate packages including the database.
Even more trivially: What is the new 'Z' nomenclature for the persistent store? ZPOS? ZBase? ZPersist?
I'd also like to settle on the final name for the database. Choices are: a. ZDB b. ZBase c. ??? Comments? --Paul

Personally I like either ZBase or ZStore. I know their are many in the object world who refer to their db as *Store and as you do in Persistent Object Store. POS can be ambiguous because of Point of Sale. My 2cents. Jimmie Houchin

ZStore I think might be confused with some kind of online ecommerce system.

When I see POS, I think of somethine entirely different.. ;-) ZDB is my vote, though I haven't tried to think of a new name.. Brad Clements, bkc@murkworks.com (315)268-1000 http://www.murkworks.com (315)268-9812 Fax netmeeting: ils://ils.murkworks.com ICQ: 14856937

How about ZOD (you know - one of the evil kryptonians in Superman:The Movie - played by Terence Stamp) for Z Object Database? Michael Bernstein.
Simple is good. ZDB is simple and immediately obvious. I like ZDB. -- Pehr Anderson, Engineer pehr@eink.com E Ink Corporation http://www.eink.com 45 Spinelli Place TEL: 617-868-8088x206 Cambridge MA, 02138 FAX: 617-868-8089
