having trouble connecting to zope server on my local machine using WS_FTP

using the wizard

Host Name or IP Address: localhost or 127.0.0.1 (tried both)

Port: 21 (default)

try to connect:

prompted for userID and password

I type in my management username and PW for the Zope management interface

 get this message:

Connecting to 127.0.0.1:21

Connect failure

 

I think I'm following the instructions set out in Ch 3: Using Basic Zope Object of The Zope Book but it's not working. Any help much appreciated
