Hi Lennart,
Just a general note: We have several bylaws changes lined up already,
and your suggestions will add new ones. We're very happy to have more
eyes on the legalese bits, which we're still coming to grips with. The
old board has not proposed any of them because with the election going
on we did not want to overload the membership with both election and
bylaws changes.
In the next few months the procedure we will follow with these bylaws
changes is described (partly) in the bylaws in Paragraph 7.10.
Basically, for every change one of us on the board will send out an
email to the foundation at zope.org and foundation-announce at zope.org
lists describing the current bylaws rule, the problem it poses, and
the proposed solution alongside a redlined bylaws document that
clearly shows the changes. Then we wait 15 days. If no one vetoes the
proposed change, it will be adopted and the bylaws will be changed
accordingly. If we receive vetoes the bylaws change will remain
pending and we will put it to a vote at the next general meeting, or
any special meeting that brings all members to the table. (Having said
that, I realize the second bit, meaning a vote on bylaws changes, is
not really mentioned in the bylaws, either...)
