[Grok-dev] data.fs location

It's my assumption that everything in /parts/ can be re-generated from
a given buildout configuration. As such, in an ideal install it's not
necessary to worry about backing-up anything in /parts/. But I think
I've only made these assumptions on working with Plone installs, as
the plone.recipe.zope2instance puts instance data into a top-level /
var/ folder. It does possibly make things simpler for a sysadmin,
since you only have to worry about back-ups and data writes happening
in only one location.

So tentatively +1 for making the switch to /var/ ... but maybe ask
this question on the Distutils-SIG, perhaps if Jim or others have a
more definitive opinion on how things should work with respect to
Buildout?
