Because currently the three digits are "tied" to the version number of 
grok-the-package. So, the "-1" would in a way add a new dimension to 
numbering gtk versions.

For me it would work, using Maurits' suggestion. Not sure though if 
zc.buildout/setuptools/distribute can deal with this notation. Not sure 
even if that matters at all, as it is the grokproject-tool (and the 
"extends" directives in people's buildout files) that refer to it. It's 
not so much of a package-version.

Hmm, I actually like the idea. More suggestions?
