[ZODB-Dev] maintenance of a BerkeleyDB

I'm ready to move to BerkeleyDB except for one
small detail: maintenance and backups (ok, maybe two).

Are there any documents on how to maintain a BerkeleyDB?

I understand that the database needs to be checkpointed
on a regular basis and that the log files and database
files should be kept around, but I would like a definitive
answer as to what does what.

Enough rambling? My main concern is how to backup the
database properly in case of catastrophic failure.
