Some of possible sources of the problem:
1. Your scripts runs too slow or block at all due to internal problems 
(logical bug etc).
2. You have slow network between servers, so scripts block wating for 
object acquisition and dumping back to database via network.
3. Your application needs too many concurrent updates. Consider re-design.
4. Deny-of-service attack.
5. Shure, bug in ZODB/Zope.
6. Shure, hardware failture (network, for example).
