I think this is the case with core Zope too and is a very sensible idea
:-)
It emilinates the need for extremely frequent releases during periods of
intense development...

I think this is the best option, it allows other people to try out
'branch code' by checking it out from the repository but keeps the trunk
checkout in a state where it works for peopel who don't yet understand
the PTK but want to get invovled (like me ;-)
