Now the discussion has become quite far fetched in elaborating structure
changes which required extra developments etc etc.
What I had hoped was a down to earth discussion based on the current set
of code. The issue is how and where to make extensions or modifications.
What to subclass and what not. This might be trivial to those working on
the PTK itself but for those who mainly want to use to make a real world
application it is not.
I do definitely agree with Rik Hoekstra's sentiment about the PTK
interfaces and fundamental mechanisms being to unstable to give a steady
foundation to build on.
A good approach may be to write an interface/services provided spec
where the recommended interfaces are defined as stable for a year or
two. Experimental services or interfaces can still change and develop.
Those who use an experimental interface know then that they have some
work to do after each release.
