Than having a fourth state (or should that be estate? ;-)

i.e. to find out whether a component has been used in a composite doc, you
could either have a fourth state "Published in Comp-Doc", or you could
search the catalog/index on-the-fly to see if the component you are
interested in has been used in any of your composite docs?
