[Zope-CMF] problem developing fs-based content type

I cannot really determine where to get at this problem:

I'm developing a filesystem-based content type for the CMF (1.1b, Zope 2.3.2).
I had a working minimalistic product. Then, in the file containing my class,
I made a python syntax error. After a restart of Zope the Product appeared
broken and the traceback in the ZMI gave the usual error info.

this is correct behaviour so far.

then I corrected the syntax error in the source file by restoring it's
previous state. restarted Zope and: STILL the same traceback.
tried everything. several restarts, cache deleted, other browser, even
request from other host. no change.

then I built in another syntax error on purpose just to see. restartet zope,
and I got a NEW traceback reflecting this change.

but whenever I correct the file, the da**** product remains broken with the
last traceback telling me things that are no longer true.

what is going wrong?

thanks,
H.
