Ehh nope my setup is as follows:

System Platform  linux2 =20

Could it be a python version problem?

Nope the metadata_edit.py (the only python file in the
cmfdefault/skins/content directory, shouldn=B4t there be a .pyc too?)
looks fine (woth indentation etc etc)
