Thanks Tres,

So the subscription machinery would be a "consumer" of messages from the
events tool, to use the terminology?

The bit about being able to send event-messages via other protocols (such as
http or XML-RPC) seemed very useful. I think Chris W mentioned the idea that
the mailing-manager might run in a different Zope instance (or even on a
different machine?), so that everything doesnt grind to a halt when you do a
large mailshot. Having a similar capability for the subscription tool seems
like a good idea? (For the future! ;-)

I also thought that the subscription tool would (in the future) need to be
able to store up messages and send them at a fixed time - like a daily
digest on a mailing list? Or perhaps this would be handled by the
portal_mail tool?

Cheers, Jon

Please check out the events tool proposal:

I would expect that any subscription mechanism would be (or use)
filtered subscriptions to the event channel.

Tres.
