[Zope-PTK] new CMF installation problem

I am having a problem installing CMF=20

Requirements:
Zope has the security patch

Assumptions:
- Zope configured using INSTANCE_HOME, '/var/zope', and
        SOFTWARE_HOME, '/usr/local/zope/Zope-2.3.1b1'.

How do I configure SOFTWARE_HOME ?

Procedure:
$ cd /usr/local/zope
$ tar xzf /tmp/CMF-1.0beta.tar.gz

Error messeges:

gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--length error

tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors
