Along those lines...  perhaps being able to tag each version of a doc as
'permanent' - exempt from packing, or 'transitory' - subject to packing...
Also, how about being able to command a particular object to pack itself
(could be used to explicitly flush out transitory versions, or in other
contexts manage data.fs bloat)
