[Zope-CMF] CMF metadata adding new element problem

Hello Experts,
                I am using CMF1.2. I have some problem with the 
portal metadata-tool.
What i did was added a new Metadata Element called "DocumentType" 
which is  multivalued. Now i went to the Elements screen of the 
tool and selected the "Document" content-type and checked the 
"required checkbox", "supply default" checkbox and "enforce 
vocabulary checkboxes". and i supplied the corresponding 
vocabulary.
However the DocumentType field  doesnt come up in the 
metadata_edit form. Why is that?
do i have to do something additional.
