The user folder and the CMF instance are two separate things. Users are 
not automatically members.

Secondly, if you have existing members and their member IDs cannot be 
found in the new user folder then they are considered "orphaned".

Thirdly, you must install CMFLDAP to use the LDAPUserFolder with CMF or 
Plone.
