Hi,

I was looking at the catalog tool the other day and had a couple of 
questions:

  - why does the catalog not attempt to use a DateRange index for the 
effective/expires queries, if this index is available and no dates are 
specified?

  - is the 'access future content' permission used to control anything? 
  I thought it was used to deal with certain effective/expires ranges, 
but from grepping it doesn't seem to ever be used!
