Let me repeat my plea for start/stop scripts that are checked in and
don't have to be generated.  If necessary, check in different scripts
for Windows.  I've been bitten once already by a generated script that
had gotten out of date.  There are ways for the script to find out
where it lives so it's quite unnecessary to generate the script
containing an absolute pathname etc.
