I haven't seen hangs, no, but Dieter reports a hang when running tests
under gdb.

What would a debug mode do?  I'd rather debug the hang then write code
to automagically do it for me.  How about answering the standard
questions:  If you run with -vv, what was the last test to run?  What
processes are left behind?
