It has been decided not to provide an auto-upgrade mechanism
for pre-2.4 indexes.

The easiest way to upgrade is to drop a pre-2.4 index
and re-add the index as a new plugabble index. Then you
have to reindex the catalog.

It would be nice if you could Auto-Upgrade pre-2.4 indexes with one click. The (pre-2.4 FieldIndex) should be followed with a 'drop and re-add' link that will cause the index to be dropped, and thenm replaced with a new index of the same name and type.
