It often seems like we should offer to take over maintainership of medusa. It seems like we're the heaviest medusa users around and I've heard that Sam isn't maintaining it anymore. It might make life easier for us, as we could fix it as we need to and we wouldn't need to do any mass merging of (potentially broken-for-Zope) code. It would also unify the efforts to maintain medusa.
If we could quickly come up with an automated way to distribute medusa separately from Zope, and amk and others interested in doing bugfixes would be willing to use our CVS repository as its canonical place, this might make sense. It would at least allow us to quickly identify newly checked-in bugs and Zope incompatibilities without an every-6-month days-long merge effort.

A diff between AMK's tree and the Zope trunk shows lots
of minor source code adjustements but no major changes - except
the patches we made in the past. I think it is not worth and
it would take too much time to include the new version
and backport all patches and fixes.

Andrew Kuchling has been cleaning up medusa and
has a new distribution available:
http://www.amk.ca/files/python/medusa-0.5.tar.gz
We should consider rolling this into CVS.
