(This is a problem + solution stated here 'for the record' so that people dont come into that mess again)

Problem :
the apache version 1.3.26 has a well know bug that might cause apache (used to cache files in front of a zope server) to return empty files.
When apache ask the zope server if an object has changed and receives a 304 (not modified) response, it might cache an empty file for that file from this time on.

Solution :
Upgrade
