I think this is NOTABUG. Under the 2.6 kernel, threads
don't show up in a top listing anymore (they aren't thinly-
disguised processes).
One way to verify that the threads are really there would
be to watch the Control_Panel/Debug tab in one browser
window, while refreshing the ZMI frameset repeatedly in
another; if you see more than one thread active there,
you are fine.

Running Zope 2.7+Python 2.3.3 on several machines with 2.6
kernel and never had any problems. This looks more like
a problem with thread in Python (maybe related to libc).
I suggest to run the Python unittests for threads and
report this issue to the Python guys if it is reproducable
with a pure Python.

I have installed a self compieled version of zope 2.7.0 in Linux Debian System with kernel 2.6.5. When I start zope everything look like perfect but only the zserver do not open any thread. Python is compieled with threads. When I change the kernel to a 2.4 version, zserver open threads which I have configured in zope.conf.
