[Zope-DB] Interfacing Zope with XML Database

I need to interface Zope with Xindice, an XML database.  Is there
something similar to PoPy that does this, or is the XML database
development too recent to have one developed right now?
I have noticed that it could be done using XML-RPC to communicate
between them - is this a better solution?
