[Zope-DB] Zope on RedHat 9

We are getting compaints from people who want to use the mxODBC Zope
DA binaries on RedHat 9. The problems they describe seem to be related
to RedHat's very particular choice of using --with-unicode=ucs4 for
their default Python interpreter version.

Question: Is RedHat's Zope package hacked to use their default Python
interpreter rather than the one that ships with Zope ?

Note: This posting is a bit off-topic, but hopefully the answers will
also help others that see strange ImportError related to UCS2 Python
APIs, like e.g.

ImportError:
/opt/zope/lib/python/mx/TextTools/mxTextTools/mxTextTools.so: undefined
symbol: PyUnicodeUCS2_AsEncodedString

Thanks,
