[Zope-DB] Error creating ZGadfly db connection

while creating a zgadfly connection:
Gadfly Error: The Zope Gadfly Database Adapter requires the existence of the directory, //var/lib/zope/zope-2_6_1/var/gadfly. An error occurred while trying to create this directory.

Ive tried manually creating the dir it mentions with no change...
Currently running gentoo...
