I thought I saw code that even completely disables copying of ZClasses 
("for now").

Yup, line 267 and on of ZClass.py:

     def cb_isCopyable(self):
         pass # for now, we don't allow ZClasses to be copied.
     cb_isMovable=cb_isCopyable
