Yes, that will happen. One easy way to avoid storing unnecessary
multiple copies is use distinct ZODB objects for the fast moving data
and the large slow data.

From your description it sounds like you might be using ZClasses? One
option is to make your Message class a subclass of ObjectManager,
which contains a DTMLDocument for storing the message text. Your
database need only hold one copy of that inner object's data.
