[ZWeb] Re: zope.org wiki tinkering

As usual, i got a bit sidetracked, so getting the wiki notification things
in place took a bit longer than intended. I *have* set up some
infrastructure, however - WikiForNow ZWiki is now available for anonymous
checkout from the zopeorg CVS repository, in case anyone is interested in
trying it out. I've installed the subscription mechanism on zope.org, but
only exposed the link to the subscribe page in the
FishbowlNotificationsForNow project wiki:

  http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/FishbowlNotificationsForNow

Page subscriptions are about as slow as edits (sometimes very slow,
depending on cash thrash/ghosting/i dunno what), i believe because the
subscriptions are indexed in the site catalog. The benefit is that you
can search the catalog for all your subscriptions.

In general, many more details to be found at the project current status
page:

  http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/FishbowlNotificationsForNow/CurrentStatus

I'm interested in comments and suggestions throughout. I'm also very
interested in subscriptions - once we've tried out at least a few, i'm
hoping to enable the subscribe link on the rest of the wikis on the site -
then we may really see some dynamics! I'd like for people to try it out
on the small scale first, though, before scaling up.

Note about suggestions. As i've mentioned, it's not clear whether i'll
have time available for more hacking on this - but that doesn't mean that
more can't be done! Depending on ideas and commitment, we may have an
opportunity to open cvs commit access to this code - greater latitude is
an adantage of having it in a separate repository. I really don't want to
encourage change for change sake, though - i think it's really important
to do what we can to ensure we're answering the right questions, solving
the right problems, by being very clear about what the issues are before
proposing solutions, and then describing the prospective solutions
clearly, as well. If i can, i'd like to retain the right to satisfaction
on those counts as a prerequisite for greater access.

(It's kinda cool that the issue is the wiki notifications mechanisms,
which may help make the dialogue process more effective - i love
developing tools that facilitate development...-)

Have at it!
