A very nice (and clean) site is V Satheesh Babu's, http://vsbabu.org/

I really like his pair of navbars - they don't take up too much space, 
and offer nice visual feedback as to which primary section you're in.

Then, his content is not constrained to being wedged in a multitude of 
columns (I think two columns are fine, but once you're in the content 
area of the site, three are too many - my chief complaint about the 
primary Plone layout.  Fortunately, it wasn't too difficult to fix!)
