I noticed a funny reaction I had to some sites I surfed to this weekend 
that had login boxes.  The more prominent the login box, the more I 
thought I needed to have an account to get any use out of the site.  
One site (I can't remember what it was) had such a prominent login box 
that I stared at it for a couple of minutes wondering if I wanted to 
sign up before noticing that all of the content was immediately usable.

Just an interesting usability note.
