[Zope] How do you increment a variable?

Cheers Donald,
I'm trying to not use properties of the form, as I want this to be 
used by a lot of people, and I believe that everytime there is a 
changeProperty call, a transaction is raised and the Zope database 
grows a little more.

Anyone know if that is the correct interpretation?
