You could try to use _.string.split on URL1, the variable that probably reads:
>http://www.domain.com/us/states/fl/cities/miami

untested:
(_.string.split(URL1, '/'))[-1] should contain 'miami'
(_.string.split(URL1, '/'))[-3] should contain 'fl'
