[Zope] tree won't work... :-(

I'd like to use the tree tag for squishdot.

The following example doesn't work. I don't get a tree. When I change
it to

  <!--#var id--> <!--#var level-->
<!--#/tree-->

I get a tree, but with all items and "subitems" in the base...

Why does the "<!--#tree branches=desc_items_filtered -->" not work?
