What uid are you doing this from? If root, then be aware that it changes uid
to 'nobody' for security purposes. Thus 'nobody' has to have write access to
the pid file. If you are running all from a 'zope' user, then I'm not certain
what you're problem could be. If the process continues running, check the uid
of the processes.
