Interesting! What JVM are you using? I gather the Sun JSDK (and hence, I 
assume, Blackdown's Linux port) is very slow. I'd be interested to see how 
Zope and Tomcat compare on Windoze, using Microsoft's JVM. Not that I'm a 
big fan of MS, but I've heard their Java implementation is quite a bit faster.
