Right you are, here's how I solved it:
# __init.py__ for myProduct
misc_={
'chooserIcon': ImageFile('images/chooserIcon.gif',globals()),
}
# DTML file
<img src="<dtml-var absolute_url>/misc_/myProduct/chooserIcon" border=0>
