[Zope] inheritedAttribute?

I was looking through some Zope Python code and noticed several places 
where something like Foo.inheritedAttribute(...) was used.  Can someone 
explain what this does?  I didn't find a definition for a method named 
inheritedAttribute so I'm a bit confused as to what this is doing.
