[Zope] How to check memory usage in Python

Hi,

This is more a Python question. How can one
check the RAM memory usage of a Python program
from within itself? Is there such a function?
(Is it platform independent? I mean, does
such a function exist for most platforms?)

If such a function does not exist in Python,
how can one do it from Unix (or Windows) shell
calls?
