The answer is very simple: get
"Learning Python" by Mark Lutz & David Ascher, ISBN 1-56592-464-9
Don't waste money on any other Python book. (I have 4 books on Python, and
flipped through another two.) When you feel strong enough, then you may want
to explorer more specific topics in Python, you can then buy more books. But
for beginners, the above book should be the ONLY book that you need.
