Aha, my Win Me installtion uses McAfee.  I've heard of a number of problems
with Norton Anti-virus.  One of I've personally had is on a Win95 machine.
Every few days, it goes into some auto-update mode and grabs all the CPU
cycles, dragging the machine to its knees.  A reboot is the only solution.
This might explain the othe post about slow performance.
