[Zope] Zope vs. the Big Boys

I am the webmaster for a company who houses one of the largest consumer
transactional database in the world. We currently hold about 50 terabytes of
information gathered from stores across the globe. We write our own in-house
applications to mine the data and are looking at e-enabling our order-entry
processes, all of which are written in a variety of languages (C, C++, Java,
VB, etc...) We use Oracle, Informix and (limited) SQL Server for our
databases. We avoid the hassle of hard drives and go with a more solid 3
1/4" floppy solution (just kidding).

I've custom written our entire Intranet package in VB/VBScript using Active
Server Pages and while I'm quite proud of my work (all content is managed by
the end users through my own database driven, point and click interface) my
code is not portable. Hence why I'm getting into Python and looking at Zope.

So, scalability is a primary goal plus the ability to attach to many
different applications in a variety of languages.

Either way, Zope is already on our network :)
