Thank you Dieter, that is it exactly.

I have not used this restrictedTraverse before, but I am trying it
in other areas now.

Once I get an object (a DTML Method) how do I make it render
normally?

I do
<dtml-var "restrictedTraverse('/path/to/product/method')">

but the html is all coming out entity encoded.

ie:

&lt;HTML&gt;
etc.
