I was thinking that zwiki, backtalk etc. might be able to support this
without requiring intra-text buttons, as follows:

- while viewing a page, user selects a chunk of text with the mouse

- javascript captures the selection and passes it as an argument when
the edit button is clicked

- the editform presents and alters only the segment of the page
which matches (roughly) the selection
