Several options:

  *  <dtml-if "Up == ''"><dtml-var BASE1><dtml-else><dtml-var expr="_.getitem(Up).absolute_url()">
     usese that the URL of the root is maintained in the request variable
     "BASE1"

  *  <dtml-var expr="restrictedTraverse(Up).absolute_url()">
     with "Up" = "/" for the root object

  *  ....
