[Zope] Oracle

The installation instructions for dco2 (www.zope.org/Members/matt/dco2) 
writes:

"Unix users should untar the tar.gz file, and export the ORACLE_HOME 
environment variable to point at the Oracle installation."

Does this assume, that I only can connect to a Oracle database, when it runs 
on the same machine?

What is the way to go, when Oracle runs on a windows server and Zope on a 
Linux server?
