[Zope] Install doesn't start properly

I've installed Zope 2.4.1 and it has correctly compiled (I downloaded and 
installed Python 2.1.1) but when I start the server, at the end I get a 
message:

date/time: PANIC(300) z2 Startup exception
Traceback (innermost last):
 file Zope/Zope-2.4.1-linux2-x86/z2.py, line 757, in ?
IOError: [Errno 13] Permission denied '/Zope/Zope-2.4.1-linux2-x86/var/Z2.pid'

I'm logged in as root with full permissions.

Can someone tell me why this problem is occuring and how I can fix it?
