You probably need something like this:

INSERT INTO XXX (...) VALUES (...)
<dtml-var sql_delimiter>
SELECT LAST_INSERT_ID() AS last_id

Z SQL methods can have multiple statements, separated by <dtml-var
sql_delimiter>, but only one SELECT.
